Vital Chinatown and Prophecy Footwork Crew are excited to host The Cvge: Battle of the Zodiac Garden at Vitaal Chinatown July 19, 2025 . The event, which made history as the first footwork event in Chinatown November 18th, 2023 at Vital Chinatown, will now expand its reach to a larger audience.
This competition aims to bridge cultural divides, celebrate Chicago footwork, and provide a platform for cultural exchange and growth.Long ago, the Jade Emperor called upon the animals of the kingdom to cross a mighty river. Each had their own path, their own pace, and their own purpose. Some raced with strategy, others with strength, teamwork, grace, or spontaneity — but only twelve made it, creating the Zodiac cycle we honor to this day.This summer, that spirit of the race returns — not across a river, but on the dancefloor.
The CVGE: Battle of the Zodiac Garden is where modern-day champions step into the arena to show what they're made of. Like the animals of the Zodiac, dancers will bring their own unique rhythm, story, and movement — from slick styles to fast feet — to face off in a footwork fusion showdown.Whether you're the clever Rat, the strong Ox, the fiery Dragon, or the chilled-out Pig — there’s a place for every energy. In this battle, everyone must move with purpose, adapt on the fly, and honor their roots while creating something brand new.
